How to setup your Canon 7D for a flattened picture profile


The Canon 7D doesn’t just spit out the best looking image for post-processing, so, as a result, we want to flatten the picture profile. Basically, this creates a flat image that is optimal for color grading in post.

Examples of what this color preset does:

  • Remove contrasty video tone
  • Creates a more dynamic range
  • Pull out extra highlight detail
  • In sharpening artifacts, these settings reduce the moiré effect

As defined by DPreview.com the moiré effect is:

If a scene contains areas with repetitive detail which exceeds the resolution of the camera, a wavy moiré pattern can appear.
